Y Janina Kurp Artwork

Thin fragments of threads born with movement and freedom … Formed from emotion and dialogue … Light-filled sculptures, fragile and sheer … Suspended forms that remembers a desire to float, to cast a shadow on a wall, to mirror … A body of threads, sewn, knitted ,crocheted, dyed … Corroded copper, oxygenised silver, brass, dusty silk … An element of glass … A glimpse of gleaming crystal lending the day a spark, a sheerness … They find a temporary place in space … Floating from a ceiling, suspended in a window, placed on a table or against a wall … Ongoing dialogue and thoughts changes the shapes, weaving a new form, a transformation, a recycling … My eye delights in the transparency of light and thread … In this way I work, mainly with threads of metal, but textile and nylon also sometimes have their place … My education is in metal art, sculpture, graphic art and painting …
